Ohio State quarterback Devin Brown left the Cotton Bowl with an ankle injury.
In his first start for the Buckeyes since backing up Kyle McCord in 2023, Brown was tackled for a four-yard loss and sprained his ankle after the play. Brown completed a 4-yard pass to Cornell Tate.
Brown returned for the next drive — three-and-out near the Missouri goal line — before heading to the locker room with the medical staff.
Ohio State coach Ryan Day told 97.1 The Fan heading into the third quarter that Brown wouldn't play the rest of the game, saying OSU “has to figure it out with Lincoln (Kienholz).”
Brown left Ohio State's win over Penn State in October with a sprained right ankle. Friday's Cotton Bowl game was Brown's first appearance since the injury.

Brown's first start was against Missouri in the Cotton Bowl.
During the 2023 regular season, Brown completed 12 of 22 pass attempts for 197 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.

With McCord headed to Syracuse after entering the transfer portal, freshman Lincoln Kienholz entered the game for OSU.
Keinholz played in two games for the Buckeyes against Minnesota and Michigan State, completing four of five passes for 25 yards. Kienholz did not score a touchdown in his college career.
Kienholz enters Ohio State's 247Sports composite rankings as the No. 15 quarterback and No. 190 player in Ohio State's 2023 class.
Ohio State also has seventh-year senior Tristan Gebbia.
