DC-AREA FORECAST: Sunny and some smoke today as storm chances pause

  • Tonight: Mostly clear, very dull, calm air. Lows: Low to mid 60s.
  • Tomorrow: Mostly sunny and hot trend. Highs: Mid to upper 80s.

After a few days of showers and storms, or a distinct possibility, we’ll be quiet for the next couple of days. Wildfire smoke has returned to our skies today, albeit somewhat breaking the silence. Otherwise we’ve got a couple of nice days today and tomorrow before a hot Friday. Showers and storm chances return late Friday for a warm and humid weekend.

Today (Wednesday): Nice Day Stamp is best in late June even if you avoid the smog from wildfire smoke. Skies will be mostly partly sunny, with highs in the low and mid 80s. You’ll notice low humidity (near 60 dew points) with winds blowing out of the northwest at 10 mph. A slight chance of an isolated afternoon shower. Confidence: Medium High

Tonight: Mostly clear and not too blurry. Lows will fall back into the low to mid 60s with very light to calm winds. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Thursday): Upper pressure keeps clouds away and humidity in check. Temperatures will be a bit warmer, however, with sunny highs in the mid to upper 80s. Confidence: High
