Victor Wembaniyama’s NBA Summer League debut Friday night in Las Vegas didn’t fill the stat sheet or light up the highlight reels. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft had nine points, eight rebounds, five blocks and three assists in the San Antonio Spurs’ 76-68 win over the Charlotte Hornets at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. He was 2-for-13 from the field and 1-for-6 from 3-point range.

Wembaniyama has a chance to make another impact on the NBA world when the Spurs play their second Summer League game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday (8 p.m. ET, ESPN2). Scoot Henderson, no. The No. 3 overall draft pick is expected to miss Friday’s first game against the Houston Rockets after suffering a shoulder injury.

Sunday’s Summer League sessions sold out for a third day as NBA fans and celebrities flocked to the desert to watch the first games of the highly anticipated French event.
