New Delhi:

Where is Kate Middleton? The question has dominated social media for weeks, and has sparked wild theories. New footage of the Princess of Wales at a farmer's market doesn't exactly settle doubts.

A photo and video were published by the British tabloid the sun, which shows a couple walking through a market in Windsor – it claims to be a smiling Kate Middleton and her husband Prince William. “Good to see you Kate,” The Sun said on Monday evening, citing pictures of the princess – in leggings and black.

“I don't feel like they're hiding who they are. But they don't know how people are going to react, because there's this kind of build-up about where they are, and I get the sense that they have to rush there,” Nelson Silva, who took the video, told the Sun.

“Kate looked happy and relaxed. They looked happy to be shopping and mingling. Kate seemed relaxed, like a shopping trip was a success. It just felt natural,” she said.

Another newspaper, The Daily Mail, hailed it as “a film that will quiet the conspiracy theorists” and will “reassure fans that she is recovering well from her stomach surgery”.

The new footage comes a week after outrage over the palace officially releasing edited photos of Kate. They ordered the film to be killed after several news outlets claimed it was morphed.

Kate Middleton, 42, has been out of the public eye since undergoing abdominal surgery on January 16 for a non-cancerous but unspecified condition.

Apart from a couple of blurry pictures, he has never been seen, and speculation about his health has been rife on social media in recent weeks, generating global headlines and rumours.

Instead of calming fears about his health, an edited image released by Kensington Palace sent the rumor mill flying as the media scrambled to pull the image with the murder announcement.

Kate apologized, but faced criticism even from the normally supportive media.

A new video from the farmers market has also sparked debate on social media, with eagle-eyed viewers flagging several issues with the media. Some people said that the photo looks better in an era where every phone has a 4k or HD camera.

Other conspiracy theorists also theorized that the woman was not Kate Middleton, but rather a body double.
