Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre reports

Earlier today, President Biden tested positive for Covid-19 following his first event in Las Vegas. He has been vaccinated and encouraged and is experiencing mild symptoms. He will return to Delaware, where he will self-quarantine, and will fully perform all of his duties during that time. The White House will provide regular updates on the president’s condition as he continues to carry out the full duties of the office while he is in isolation.

President’s Physician’s Note:

The President presented this afternoon with symptoms of upper respiratory illness, rhinorrhea (runny nose) and non-productive cough, along with general malaise. He felt fine for his first event of the day, but because he was sick, point-of-care testing for Covid-19 was conducted, and the results were positive for the Covid-19 virus. With that in mind, the president will self-isolate according to CDC guidelines for symptomatic individuals. Pending PCR confirmation testing. His symptoms are mild, his respiratory rate is normal at 16, his temperature is normal at 97.8 and his pulse oximetry is normal at 97%. The President has received his first dose of Paxlovit. He will self-isolate at his home in Rehoboth.
